hp-dv6933-touchpadEver since two years ago when I took the leap from a HP notebook to a Macbook back in 2007, I have seldom looked back other than for one feature of my old laptop – a button to disable to the trackpad from registering accidental taps during periods of extended typing. I used to find this super-useful and found myself quickly longing for such a simple feature that Apple neglected to include on my shiny new laptop,

A possible solution?

After doing much research, I was shocked to find that Apple offers no official solution which I think is a massive oversight. Some people have resorted to a workaround but it’s not all that elegant and goes against the Apple way of thinking.

A better idea?

This got me thinking about how they would implement such a feature if they wanted to whilst avoiding making it look clunky and ruining the simplistic image of the glass trackpad. The best I could come up with was a very specific gesture to disable and have it listen out for the exact same gesture in order to enable it. I’m sure it would be a little buggy though.
