Consumers Are The Barrier To Technology Innovation?
Often times, I find myself, and others, complaining about the fact that a sweet product rumor did not come to pass. This got me thinking about the impacts hype has on technology innovation and arrived at the conclusion that the consumer is the barrier to and the driver of technology innovation in a single breath. I just wanted to talk about why.
It’s not hard to work out that corporations are driven to innovate by greed and an overwhelming sound of cash registers and by the notion of success. But, I began to wonder whether companies are the victim of user hope and that this may hinder innovation as a pose to helping it along. Think about it, there are always going to be rumors that are unpractical and will never come into being. In such cases, there are always going to be some who will resent the fact that that the feature they wanted wasn’t brought to the table.
This notion couldn’t help but lead me to the idea that, companies worrying about not being able to deliver on user-hyped features may detract from the time that ought to be spent producing truly new and interesting functionality. As usual, the comments are an open f0rum and you are invited to speak your mind.

Comment Posting Guidance
For the benefit of every non-spambot visiting, following a recent site restructuring I have some rules with regard to etiquette for comment posters. As well as making a better experience for all, they help to distinguish real people for automatic evil machine spam. Due to this, any comment that fails to follow any one of them will be considered spam and removed as soon as possible.

- Coherent English must be used.
- This form has multiple fields for a reason. Only enter a real name or nickname in the first box i.e. "Boats For Sale" wouldn't make it. Similarly, the "Website" input is a pre-determined place to post one link so there is no need to have them in the body area. This is a common technique used by spammers and marketers and, as such is not allowed.
- Your comment must be directly related to the post to which it is a response. The idea of a post commenting system is to further the conversation that began in the given article. For instance "great post" is not a comment. My contact form can be used for suggestions or general communications.
- Responses to other comments must be civilised.
- No sexual reference or content is allowed.
- Duplicate comments are a no-no.

Hey Tom, I recently stumbled across your writing - and must say, well done! The internet brought us many things - one of which (unfortunately) is extremely poor literacy among younger generations. I myself am no expert or literary giant - but it is really inspiring to see such wisdom and insight formulated with structure and intent from a young man such as yourself. Please - keep this up for as long as you can!

Hey Tom, Just saw one of your video's and must say you have a briljant mind! What you talk about here in your post, other people have realized as well. I feel compelled to share this. They call this "big company disease". And it means that when companies are successful they become stuck in their (old) ways of working. They are very "afraid" to do something differently. Public relations (those hypes and rumors) play an important role in the way the company see itself and it's environment. Keep writing this stuff down! I think your perspective is very interesting and unique since you cut through all the noise and come straight to the point. Or like you said: "It would be improper for me not to give my truthful opinions on issues and will always attempt to remain balanced" that just sums it up! Thanks!
Well-written. Thanks. I have been learning a lot about content management lately. I have also been experimenting with setting up an e-commerce site using WordPress. Have you ever done that? Any suggestions for me? It's pretty fun learning it. If you'd like to see my blog it's here. Thanks again for this blog - it is really well-done.
